BT Payphones

The Parish Council has received a Planning Application for the removal of the existing Payphone in each Village. This is a further attempt by BT to remove uneconomic Payphones, the last attempt being received in 2019.

The Parish Council will again OBJECT to this Application on the following grounds:

The mobile network coverage in Bilton in Ainsty & Bickerton has not improved since the last BT request to remove the Payphone Kiosks in 2019, which is an inadequate alternative to a landline emergency phone connection.

There are an increasing number of Older Residents in Bilton in Ainsty & Bickerton who do not have a mobile phone and would be unable to use one in an emergency.

The existing Payphone Kiosks are identified as important assets in the Parish Council’s Emergency Resilience Plan  deposited with Harrogate Borough Council.
