Crime Report June 2020
The following statement has been received from North Yorkshire Police:
“Over the three months from April to June our traditional demand (crime, road collisions, missing persons , mental health etc etc etc) has gone down approximately one third. For Harrogate that’s a reduction from about 4500 calls to 3000 calls a month.
This has been made up by a large volume of “Covid” calls, just in April we received over five hundred in Harrogate district.
NYP have issued more Covid fixed penalty notices than any other force for unlawful gatherings and journeys. People generally don’t understand that social distancing is public health advice and not law, and it cannot be enforced by the police.”
